baptiste letertre is ringard and comes from rennes, britanny s biggest city with a strong electronic music culture. ringard has a label called dance around 88 because he was born in 1988. ringard released 8 vinyl records. -lacrima rossa- is his first 12- outside his own label so it s a great pleasure for us to have him on board. ringard music is deep but raw, woolly, melancholic yet emotional. think soulful techno, steamroom slo-mo, warehouse heat and euphoric minimal. morphine electronics at its best with amazing strings and killer frequencies like lobster theremin meeting boards of canada in a fantasy balearic island. in french, ringard means tacky or outdated. it has never sound so cool being ringard!

the second intergraded is a four tracker from hi & saberhaegen, the brainchild of two producer/djs from scotland and ireland respectively. they first met midland at a gig at sneaky petes in edinburgh where they booked him to play at the club (where they also hold a residency). having previously played their music on anthony naples proibito and huntleys and palmers he was keen to hear what else they had been working on. what followed was selection of tracks that ended up being distilled down to the light on leaves ep. without relying on superlatives and detailed track by track descriptions, its an amazing record that reveals itself with every listen and one we are really proud to have on the label.

the fourth installment in john osborns dred records series will be from fellow uk producer harsh puri who goes under the moniker reformed society. dred 004 consists of six tracks in total three that will appear on the vinyl release, followed by another three that will be digital-only exclusives. harsh puri aka reformed society debuted in 2015 with this being his sixth consecutive release in order. harshs productions caught johns eye, or rather ear, after being sent to him last year and resulted in this release of six solid prime time deep house stompers. packaged in an understated matte white sleeve with a black and white picture of brahma (the four headed hindu god of creation) handstamped on each cover by the label owner himself, this being a continuation of the human skull dred logo. one life opens the dimensions ep and is the track given to label boss john osborn for deconstructing and remoulding into his own specific vision each release will contain a rework from osborn. if you are familiar with johns previous work you will immediately recognize his characteristic resonating percussion, the tune being a deep house sci-fi storm expedition driven by a full luscious kick covering the tracks of chords from unsettled pads. the eps title track has ambient sonic rays flowing through it, being aptly named dimensions it is also the records warmest adventure, distorted percussion juggles sparse subaqueous melodic moments, and from here we go into the 12inches final moment, chasing titanoid. reformed society goes in with full yet silent force on this one. a warped bassline co-creates the groove with a particularly bouncy beat with sharp strings piercing though.

the inimitable cc:disco! has partnered with hyped underground label soothsayer to curate the first in a collaborative series of compilations entitled first light. soothsayer presents first light: volume 1 compiled by cc:disco! is due for release in february 2018 digitally and on vinyl. australias reigning champion of tasteful electronic music, cc:disco! has procured exclusive tracks from emerging and undiscovered artists across genres such as boogie, balearic, funk, disco and house with each sound piquing her interest, culminating in a finished product that would undeniably slot into a cc:disco! set. her mission statement? less chin stroking, more dancing. it captures what cc:disco! is all about: the dancefloor. the very first taste of first light comes in the form of a salty and sweet track called really want that by jace xl. premiered via resident advisor, cc:disco! explains: i remember the first time i heard jace sing in a bar, at first i thought a dj was playing then i looked up see jace singing his guts out. he blew me away! jaces voice is amazing and to me, a huge part of whats going on in australian music, so its with open arms we welcome him to first light. staub comes back on wax for a third episode. following the no name policy from the parties which started 5 years ago in it is time again for unknown artist to shine. this new ep sees the shy producer appearing on 4 tracks of pristine techno. a1 is an atmospheric trip while a2 is more brutal, on the b side it is going weirder and darker. we think unknown artist tries to craft interesting techno cuts and that he loves variety. that it is the idea behind staub since its beginnings, it does not matter whether you are a newcomer or lady gaga, what matters is the quality of the music. this is what was again aimed with this third record.

following on from his debut ep on drumcode earlier this year, ilario alicante returns. for the past few years ilario alicante has enjoyed something of an unintentional ibiza kinship with adam beyer. when the swede played his special annual sets on the amnesia terrace for cocoon, for three years out of four, the italian has been right there playing alongside him, ensuring his talents were on the radar of the drumcode chief. ilario made his first appearance on the label in 2016 with the stirring temporary featuring on a-sides vol.4, before securing his first full-length release with the awakened ep that dropped earlier this year. figures & echoes deepens his contribution to the label with half a dozen powerful cuts. figure of ra opens the ep, combining a rousing vocal loop, pulsating beats and effective melodic interlude to fantastic effect. the acid runner follows and is true to its name, characterised by echoing vocal effects that lead to a piercing 303-line that hits with peak-time power. virgos echoes features a persistent synth line that combining effectively with lush layers of melody to create an atmospheric impact. third eye delivers an exhilarating dose of rave thanks to the hypnotizing riff that runs throughout.

inside out is a brand new series that invites djs and producers to blur the boundaries between traditional artist albums and mix compilations. coming from aus music label head and dj-kicks curator will saul, the concept encourages artists to showcase their own music and or the music of those in their own individual circles. the mix will be release digitally and on cd, while a selection of the tracks will also be available on double gatefold vinyl. each instalment will feature 100% new and unreleased music. it is a chance for artists to take sole creative charge, a&r as they see fit and then commission brand new music specifically for the cause. depending on who is at the helm, inside out will take different forms: producers may wish to represent their own sound with only music they have made themselves or with close collaborators, while djs and label heads may wish to reflect the sounds and scenes that surround them. the results will be a window into an artists world that works as a coherent mix, but also as a treasure trove of fresh new music that steps outside the usual lines of a dance album. the idea stems from will sauls own approach in the club, which often finds him seeking out brand new and unheard music to play for the first time. that feeling of taking people into the unknown is one that reminds him of the energy and excitement of his early days as a dancer.

for our second release we may introduce the rotterdam-based beatmaker the soul pilot. he is known for his funky, soulful and beats heavy productions. for les cidres he created two summer tunes lawless and craving showing more of his repertoire. lifting off with lawless. in this hot, sweet, bassy piece of sexyness, being true to his name he shows his passion for vocalizing himself - letting you blush and sweat with him in this heat. the journey continues with craving - with this funkiness blowing through your hair, body and soul. a summer must have!

edmondson first came to my attention with his lobster theramin distributed release, flamingo tripper, on his own label lissoms. or so i thought. turns out he was actually a guy who used to serve me in one of my favourite pubs in newcastle. back in those days he was a dub step / drum and bass kid, and as per the trend with all of those guys, hes now showing the house heads how its done, with a much keener feel for sound design, groove and a better ear for a sample than 90% of us lazy people who cut our teeth on a 4/4 beat. edmondson (or sean as i did know him and how i know him once again) is really one of the most exciting producers out there right now for me, and i couldnt be happier that weve reconnected and hes kindly allowed me me me to present some of his amazing music. we have love is an instant classic, and psg is a work of pure emotive art. to remix we have love, ive enlisted dauwd (fresh from his amazing album on technicolour). sean suggested him, and i jumped on the suggestion as he was one of the first people i met when i moved to berlin 4 years ago, and ive been trying to figure out a way of working with him since. he takes a we have love down a kind of more delicate and steppy route. its very pretty, but also really makes you want to dance. to remix psg i asked asok. again, i thought i first met asok about 7 or 8 years ago, when he came and played for a party i used to throw in newcastle. after becoming good friends over the years, we got chatting and it turned out that we were both in magaluf in 1998, and may have actually been involved in the same street brawl. thats not something either of us are proud of, but its definitely food for thought. i’m biased, but i think his remix is my favourite thing he’s ever done, and i love everything he’s touched musically to date, so thats probably an even bigger endorsement than it first seems. his version is big.

body music lp produced by a man who needs little introduction. thomas p. heckmann has flexed his prowess across all shades of electronic music, but it’s his contributions to ebm-techno, acid, industrial, and experimental that has earned him his notoriety. heckmann has utilised 30 years worth of acquired knowledge to create a hard-hitting album which bears all the grit he is known for - harmonising analogue and digital wares to create an utterly immersive 14 track album. the triple vinyl release includes insert, printed sleeve

moby has released a new single and video for “like a motherless child,” from his forthcoming album everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt. featuring la-based soulstress raquel rodriguez, “like a motherless child” is a re-work of the well-known spiritual, with its origins in the slavery of the american south. the track describes the void left when one feels separated from a parent, higher power or similar guiding force. over the years this powerful song has been reinterpreted by the likes of odetta, lena horne, mahalia jackson and van morrison. the album is a glowing tapestry exploring spirituality, individuality and the brokenness of humanity and finds him returning to his orchestral, soul, trip-hop and gospel roots.

andrew scott, aka nyak, scott has remained a consistent representative of the music scene and we re delighted to have him on board for the first release of 2018 on local talk, bound ep. we re treated to four tracks, the opening track bound is a cut up, soulful disco house slammer. next up we got dancing, a perfect example of andrew s skill when it coms to slowing down the tempo but still letting the track have enough character to keep you dancing. on the flip we got see more which takes you straight to a dark and gritty club with it s stuttering chords, tight drums and pulsing bass. last but not least we got sandwiches which features long time collaborator ian blevins. a stunning low deep groove for any theo parrish or marcellus pittman fans out there.

beginning in the early 90s, emmanuel top became france s first techno superstar, even if his popularity was greater in countries like germany and england than his own. he released a multitude of 12inches on the attack label la pipe a eau, krankenhaus, ecsta-deal, stress, turkish bazar, and many more many of which are compiled on the triple-disc release collection from 1995. top s next step took him to nova mute alongside heavyweights like plastikman. in addition to his solo work, top also collaborated with bruno sanchioni and bruno quartier in the mid to late 90s as the trance act b.b.e. (seven days and one week) and also as age of love (the original age of love).

ep3: mov clsr is the third and final piece in a trilogy of releases, exploring the libraries of spaceks recent hard drives. encompassing house, footwork, techno, garage and broken beat the legendary vocalist and producer has amassed a wealth of tracks created mostly on iphone and ipad. south london to the core yet globally inspired, his off kilter swing and free flowing approach to music has always set him apart from the pack. from his work with j.dilla (eve/dollar) to his collaboration with mark pritchard as one half of africa hitech, steve spaceks creative output has always been a million miles ahead.

the ideological inspirer of slowdance – michael dop is making his debut on the label under a new name finetune. each composition comprises breathing groove and atmospheric melodies. the whole release conveys and emphasizes the mood and versatility of the musician, while the cover represents him as an artist.

this is a great sophomore effort by this scottish outfit. the singer has a unique semi-quavering voice with a melodramatic quality that suits the music and would equally suit him on stage in a musical. some songs are aggressive but with a dark hue. opening cut -a leaving song- finds sutherland carving his way through jangly and buzzing guitars set to a skittery beat with a touch of the theatrical. closing is -home-, a forlorn ballad with sutherland delicately pleading -please let me come home-, elegiac and sweet.

deep club resident dj and head strobe controller lone dancer marks our label s 4th entry with his first solo 12- on vinyl. after finishing two quality tape albums in 2017 already for jacktone and always human tapes, -house is a tunnel- arrives packed with 4 club-ready jagged tekno bangers and one cut for the chillout room. side a - communication: the title track is a sure-fire party starter centered around a thick kickdrum and a repeating synth rhythm laced with weird percussion and synth stabs trickling through the texture. next, -po12-3- combines crisp claps, hats, and a central synth theme that calls for an intergalactic rave. -colony dwelling- kicks off the transportation side, taking our extraterrestrial dancers to a new dimension steeped in fog juice and flangers. -floor- has a chill intro until it launches into a gritty track that throws broken kickdrums and distorted synths in every direction. finally, -night rain- puts the party to rest utilizng soft pads while hinting at moments from the night before. overall, -house is a tunnel- is a fitting dance-centric conglomeration of lone dancer s unique style of jacking techno, broken beats, and spaced out tracks that has set him apart in 2017. —ryan scannura

last summer during an evening spent with my friend dj topha, we came upon the everlasting subject of old versus new. i m finding so much great music right now, and not just digging back in time but exploring our own timeline geographically too, he said, the level of production these days is rising fast. you have to check out these snippets from a new label based in casablanca. not long after, in an interesting twist of fate, driss bennis and i began to exchange music: i shared his soundcloud for the first casa voyager release, and he sent me a promo copy which i played out a lot. it seemed only logical to ask him for music for basic moves. later that summer we met in paris for a convivial back to back at dawidu s shop, te iubesc records and sapology. it was as simple as that, and in a few weeks basic moves 04 was ready. night train and overseas blew me away by their quality - the tracks are retro-esque yet fresh, and stem from a loose approach to electro. their arrangements are very smart, not everything is revealed the first time round. the more you listen, the more you understand that the power of the tracks lies in the details. together with ailsa s artwork, stefan s cut and chris mixes the release fell so smoothly into place. i have come to realise how important it is for the scene to release recently produced music as well as treasures from the past. you can t build a community by only playing old records. it s about a combination, about finding gems that glide together. old and new. and for that, i think both these dj booth tracks really fit the bill.

this is a really special record for label boss apoena, as he show us his sampling art work as never before. being a brazilian producer him self, he delivers a 4-tracker colection of sofisticated deep house versions of intrumental brazilian music from the 70s and 80s. this is a jewel for bar and pub events or any deep house dancefloors

parisian producer brice groulier has built a reputation as one of the new guard of techno artists to watch closely with consistently high quality sub aquatic, rhythm shifting techno for labels like semantica, midgar, planet rhythm, and modularz. while looking for music that integrated with our grey area releases, we found ourselves blending more von grall tunes than any other artist, so a horo release was requested. what originally began as a 4 track ep bloomed into an 8 track debut album that sees von grall expand his style beyond the muscular but hazy rhythmic mist he has become known for. the title track infinitum opens the lp like a contemplative bubble. hyper density and inside are pensive, evocative jogs, while emerald city and disturbance ramp up the energy and will be the most favoured floor tunes from infinitum. antonym allegory combines the von grall rhythmic bounce with an emotive pad that will echo in your mind long after listening. motel closes the lp with a quirky, almost joyful flow. infinitum wanders confidently into new ground for von grall and cements him as a versatile and singular voice in techno.

fabrizio lapiana is a well-known name on the contemporary italian techno scene. he has been involved in music since the 90’s when he started dj ing in his hometown rome. to date he has over two handfuls of releases on labels such as figure jams, arts and m_rec ltd - as well as his own imprint, the well renowned attic music, founded in 2008.
intraverso is fabrizio’s debut album, set for release on his label. the record is a very personal journey, according to the artist himself. you here find him examining different territory than where he usually heads within his productions. the album, which consists of nine songs in total, was composed between april 2016 and february 2017 in his studio in rome. written in a state of -introspect-, we here see an artist in motion. changing. evolving. the perfect moment to explore something new and unveil a different side of yourself to the world.

following our first release with opal, which aimed at the dance and the bodies, we wanted with this second ep to reach to people’s mind. as a geneva-based techno label, it was fundamental to work with our local hero: opuswerk. he’s already been working outside of the country with artists like francois x and labels such as arts, semantica or dement3d. it was time we involved him in our project. through this ep, opuswerk clearly shows what he knows and does best. much like his dj sets, he connects dots and layers in unexpected ways, like a rhizome connecting different multiplicities. inspiration for the original tracks came from designing systems of independent yet connected sounds, where events are triggered, un-triggered and alter other events, each behaving on their own. as one of those elements, the artist acts as a guide, directing them from one place to the next acting as and with the machines. the -mot d’ordre- is about becoming one of the machines, blending techniques with vibes and catching them like ever escaping dreams. the result is two uniquely sounding spaces, either filled with raw energy like on extensum or with subtle and serene ever-evolving bleeps on spatium. those two extremes are fitting to how we want present the multiple dimensions of our artists works to the world. the same logic went into choosing the remixers, with whom opuswerk had a human connection with. inland and antigone need no introductions, having both established their sound on labels like countercharge or token. each brought their own re-interpretations of the original tracks bringing them closer to the dancefloors.
